Giants fans aren\u2019t the only ones frustrated after the team\u2019s nightmarish doubleheader<\/a> Thursday in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Broadcaster Mike Krukow joined<\/a> KNBR\u2019s \u201cThe Murph & Markus Show\u201d Friday morning to express his exasperation following the Giants\u2019 pair of walk-off losses, results Krukow said were avoidable if not for crucial errors in pitch selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not good at all,\u201d Krukow told hosts Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher when asked how he was holding up after Thursday\u2019s defeats. \u201cI was screaming at the TV set yesterday, and [my wife] Jennifer is looking at me like I\u2019m nuts. And then she comes over and\u2026lo and behold, a couple minutes later she\u2019s screaming at the TV. I think that was indicative of a lot of Giants fans yesterday, as to what they saw.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was especially upsetting was they should have won both games. They outplayed the Phillies both ends of the doubleheader and they wind up with what the little bird left on the rock. That\u2019s a frustrating day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Giants were one out away from victory in each game on Thursday but failed to secure either win as the bullpen allowed the Phillies to rally both times.<\/p>\n

In his radio appearance on Friday, Krukow first keyed in on Ryan Walker<\/a>\u2019s ninth-inning pitch sequence to the Phillies\u2019 Bryson Stott<\/a> in the first game. Walker threw nine straight sinkers to Stott, who eventually laced a triple to tie the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was upsetting was he threw nine pitches that were the same pitch,\u201d Krukow told Murphy and Boucher. \u201cSo, let\u2019s go back and review: what is hitting? Timing. What is pitching? It\u2019s upsetting the timing of the hitter. That\u2019s your goal\u2026when you throw nine [of the same] pitches to a big-league hitter, he is going to have an excellent chance to barrel your ass. And that\u2019s exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, Krukow referenced Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber<\/a>\u2019s at-bat against Keaton Winn<\/a> in the ninth inning of the second game, with the Giants again one out away from a win.<\/p>\n

\u201cNumber one, they\u2019re facing Schwarber when they shouldn\u2019t have,\u201d Krukow said. \u201cHe should never have been pitched to with an open base, but okay. Now you\u2019ve got Keaton Winn out there, a three-pitch guy: fastball, a slider and a split. Well, what did he throw him? He threw him seven splits, the same speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schwarber doubled in the tying run on the seventh pitch, and the Giants would go on to lose in 10 innings, prompting Krukow\u2019s impassioned critique.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, these are questions that have to be answered,\u201d Krukow concluded. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think they can be explained by the current philosophy, and I think that has to change.\u201d<\/p>\n
