A familiar face is returning to the Athletics.<\/p>\n
The A\u2019s on Monday acquired catcher Jonah Heim via trade from the Braves in exchange for cash considerations after he was designated for assignment by Atlanta. Additionally, the A\u2019s placed Shea Langeliers<\/a> on the paternity list.<\/p>\n Heim was DFA’d by the Braves after batting .231 with one home run in 12 games with Atlanta this season.<\/p>\n The A’s have acquired C Jonah Heim from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations. In addition, the A\u2019s have placed C Shea Langeliers on the paternity list.<\/p>\n \u2014 A’s Communications (@AthleticsPR) May 5, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n The 30-year-old backstop made his MLB debut with the Athletics in 2020 and played 13 games with the club before being traded in the offseason<\/a> along with Khris Davis to the Texas Rangers for shortstop Elvis Andrus and catcher Aramis Garcia.<\/p>\n In Texas, Heim developed into the team\u2019s starting catcher and played 120-plus games for the Rangers in four-straight seasons (2022-25) and earned his lone MLB All-Star bid in 2023, the same season the team won the franchise’s first World Series.<\/p>\n Heim finished the 2023 campaign with a .258 average, .755 OPS, 18 home runs and 95 RBI.<\/p>\n The veteran will help Austin Wynns fill the void for Langeliers, who has put together a stellar 2026 MLB season.<\/p>\n Among qualified hitters, Langeliers leads all catchers in batting average (.336), OPS, (1.017), home runs (10) and extra-base hits (19), per SportRadar.<\/p>\n While Heim might be familiar with the team\u2019s color scheme, a lot has changed since that 2020 season with the A\u2019s featuring an entirely new 26-man roster.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t
