{"id":691365,"date":"2026-05-06T00:18:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/691365\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T00:18:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:18:16","slug":"yankees-anthony-volpe-tells-the-post-there-are-things-he-cant-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/691365\/","title":{"rendered":"Yankees&#8217; Anthony Volpe tells The Post there are things he &#8216;can&#8217;t&#8217; control"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WORCESTER, Mass. \u2014 Anthony Volpe started at shortstop for Triple-A Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, Volpe doesn\u2019t have many answers after being optioned to the minors following his rehab stint as he came back from offseason surgery on his left shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>While many were surprised the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/03\/sports\/anthony-volpe-optioned-to-minors-as-yankees-return-will-have-to-wait\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yankees optioned the 25-year-old<\/a> in favor of keeping Jos\u00e9 Caballero at short in The Bronx, Volpe said: \u201cI don\u2019t know. There are things I can control [and] things I can\u2019t. I\u2019m ready to go here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And although he remained at short against Triple-A Worcester at Polar Park, the Yankees haven\u2019t ruled out the possibility of moving Volpe around the infield, especially given the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/28\/sports\/yankees-prospect-george-lombard-promoted-to-triple-a\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">presence of George Lombard Jr. on the SWB roster<\/a> as the 20-year-old Lombard shoots through the minor league system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"WORCESTER, Mass. \u2014 Anthony Volpe started at shortstop for Triple-A Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night.
