It feels like nobody is talking about the start to the season the San Diego Padres<\/a> have had, though it’s understandable because the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> are still 1.5 games ahead of them in the National League West.<\/p>\n

However, the Padres have really done a nice job on both sides of the baseball, and there’s reason to believe that this can be a very good team come playoff time. The Padres, as always, are going to make the right moves at the trade deadline if they believe they have a chance to compete for a playoff spot and a World Series.<\/p>\n

Searching for ways to improve the roster, they were recently named a potential trade candidate for Jo Adell<\/a> of the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>, a move that would send a California rival down to San Diego<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdell is quietly turning into a star over with the Los Angeles Angels. In 2025, he hit 37 homers and drove in 98 runs. So far this season, he has slashed .268\/.305\/.366 with four homers, 20 RBIs and has been electric defensively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Padres need some more pop in the middle of the order. Adell could provide that and get time in the outfield or as a designated hitter. Plus, he has one more season of control in 2027. The Padres are never afraid to make a splash. It would be much more fun to throw out a name here, like Mike Trout<\/a>, but if the Angels continue to struggle, Adell seems much more likely to be on the move,\u201d Patrick McAvoy of SI wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adell has quietly put together a very nice career for himself, and the 13-23 Angels definitely need to be sellers.<\/p>\n

The right-handed hitter is currently hitting .269 with four home runs on the year and has gotten a bit better on the defensive side of the baseball. He still has some strikeout problems with 33 on the year, but he’d be a nice addition for a Padres team that can use some more offensive help.<\/p>\n
