The Redhawks saw their leadoff hitter out on a groundout before the bases were loaded on a pair of walks and a hit batter.<\/p>\n<p>With the bases loaded, the Governors issued back-to-back walks to bring in the first two runs. Redshirt senior <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/chance-cox\/11501\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11501\" target=\"_blank\">Chance Cox<\/a> relieved the Governors\u2019 starter, junior <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/elijah-underhill\/11518\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11518\" target=\"_blank\">Elijah Underhill<\/a>, before allowing an RBI single and an RBI fielder\u2019s choice to bring in the next pair of runs.<\/p>\n<p>The Governors got a run back three innings later, when redshirt junior <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ray-velazquez\/11515\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11515\" target=\"_blank\">Ray Velazquez<\/a> hit a solo homer over the left field fence for his 13th home run of the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Redhawks got their run back an inning later in the home fifth, as they brought a run in on an RBI single to short.<\/p>\n<p>With two outs and a pair of runners on in the top of the sixth, and following a Redhawk pitching change, graduate <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/andres-matias\/11507\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11507\" target=\"_blank\">Andres Matias<\/a> brought in a run with a base hit to left field. Then, redshirt sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/cole-johnson\/11503\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11503\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Johnson<\/a> followed up with a two-run single to left, making it a one-run game.<\/p>\n<p>The Redhawks extended their lead by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, before the Governors got one back with an RBI single off the bat of junior <a href=\"https:\/\/letsgopeay.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ty-wisdom\/11525\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11525\" target=\"_blank\">Ty Wisdom<\/a> in the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s all that the Governors could do, though, as the Redhawks threw a pair of scoreless innings to close out the game.<\/p>\n<p>Follow Govs Baseball<\/p>\n<p>Follow APSU Govs baseball (@GovsBSB) on Instagram and X.<\/p>\n<p>Next Up For APSU Baseball<\/p>\n<p>The Austin Peay State University baseball team will face Eastern Kentucky for its final home Atlantic Sun Conference series of the season, starting on Friday 6:00pm at Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C.
