They’re just such a hard team to watch and they’ve played so poorly, but one Bay Area radio host really encapsulated how a lot of fans feel about how this season has gone.

Mark Willard of 95.7 The Game said the following about the Giants’ roster and it really rings true:

“I don’t see it. This roster is totally and completely misconstructed…What’s your plan? What would they say if we sat down and asked them that? Who are you and what’s your plan?”

Buster Posey will have to answer for terrible Giants roster

Willard speaks for many Giants fans by asking that question.

It’s not as if Posey and the front office had no plan entering the season, but even from conception it was a bit of a flimsy one at best.

The most damning roster weakness is probably the starting rotation. Posey said the Giants were going to prioritize adding starting pitching and then they went out and signed Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle after chairman Greg Johnson made it abundantly clear they weren’t going to spend big on a starter.

While Houser had a solid start on Wednesday and Mahle has had his moments, those two signings don’t look great.

The bullpen seemed like it was going to be a major weakness coming into this season since it fell apart last year after the Giants traded Camilo Doval and Tyler Rogers then lost Randy Rodríguez to Tommy John surgery. Yet, it hasn’t been as bad as feared. Still, the team does not have a clear closer and leads certainly do not feel safe in the late innings.

Then there’s the lineup. Some foolish saps like myself were able to talk themselves into thinking the lineup could actually be something of a strength this season. I thought maybe the addition of Luis Arraez would provide enough contact to balance out the swing-and-miss sluggers in the lineup and while Arraez has been very good, the sluggers have not slugged at all.

So what is the plan now? The Giants have a ton of money tied up in Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, and Rafael Devers and they’ve been some of the worst players on the team. It’s easy to say blow it up and rebuild but the Giants have never really done that and it would take a very desperate team to take on any of those contracts.

Right now the plan seems to be just wing it and use different guys every game to see if something works but that’s not a recipe for success. The Giants are reeling, everyone knows it, and it’s really hard to see a way out.

Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow

It’s hard to find different ways to describe how bad things look for the SF Giants right now.…

[2408
5,162,4,378,66,4343,4340,4344,4341,4342
0":"post-693120","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-francisco-giants","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-giants","10":"tag-mlb","11":"tag-san-francisco","12":"tag-san-francisco-giants","13":"tag-sanfrancisco","14":"tag-sanfranciscogiants","15":"tag-sf","16":"tag-sf-giants","17":"tag-sfgiants
["GET
