The Los Angeles Angels<\/a> are reportedly calling up catching prospect Omar Martinez as their injury crisis continues with Travis d\u2019Arnaud<\/a> heading to the IL with plantar fasciitis.<\/p>\n

The Angels signed the longtime New York Yankees<\/a> prospect in the offseason, and he has played 20 games for the Salt Lake Bees so far this season, and has shown plenty of pop during his short time with the organization. He has a .731 OPS despite batting just .212, and has four homers in 66 at-bats so far this season.<\/p>\n

The Yankees originally signed Martinez to a minor league contract in 2018, and he trudged his way through their organization for seven years. He made it as high as Triple-A with them in 2025, but never made his MLB debut. Martinez will get that opportunity with the Angels now, and is likely to feature soon with the Angels\u2019 limited options at catcher\u2014assuming d\u2019Arnaud lands on the injured list.<\/p>\n
