CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Gas prices nearing sitting at $4.79 per gallon in Cleveland did not keep fans home Saturday as three major events drew crowds downtown.<\/p>\n
The Cavaliers, Guardians and country star Zach Bryan all hosted events at the same time, filling sidewalks and roads with fans who drove in despite high fuel costs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI put in half a tank,\u201d one fan said. \u201cBecause I am poor and that\u2019s all I could afford.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gas prices have neared $5 per gallon since the Strait of Hormuz closed, choking oil deliveries globally.<\/p>\n
Fans use discounts to offset costs<\/p>\n
Zach Bryan performed at Huntington Bank Field on Saturday. Fans said they maximized their gas rewards before heading downtown.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, I used my discounts as much as possible before I got here,\u201d one concertgoer said.<\/p>\n
New restaurant sees first busy Cleveland weekend<\/p>\n
Aireal\u2019s Place at 815 Superior Avenue, recently opened in the corridor connecting all three events experienced its first taste of a busy Cleveland weekend.<\/p>\n
Mia Beavers, owner of Aireal\u2019s, cleaned up her restaurant after the rush.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe went through everything. I cannot believe it,\u201d Beavers said.<\/p>\n
Beavers opened Ariel\u2019s last August, her first summer running a restaurant in Cleveland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just got hit. So, I think I did underestimate what the summers are going to be like here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
One fan said the high gas prices were worth it for the concert.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean it\u2019s worth it for the concert, I probably wouldn\u2019t have done it otherwise. It was like $30 for half a tank,\u201d the fan said.<\/p>\n
