{"id":697140,"date":"2026-05-12T17:15:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T17:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/697140\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T17:15:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T17:15:15","slug":"oregon-extends-winning-streak-to-seven-games-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/697140\/","title":{"rendered":"Oregon extends winning streak to seven games | Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everything is starting to come together for the Oregon baseball team.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon swept a nonconference doubleheader from Monroe with 12-8 and 20-3 wins on Saturday, May 9, at Zach Field.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers then beat Madison La Follette in a nonconference game 14-5 on Monday, May 11, at Warner Park.<\/p>\n<p>With the wins, Oregon (10-8, 3-7 Badger Large) extends its winning streak to seven games. The Panthers are unbeaten in May.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon was coming off a 5-3 Badger Large Conference win over Baraboo on Friday, May 8, at Zach Field and a 6-2 win over the Thunderbirds on Tuesday, May 6, at Mary Rountree Field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest growth to help us during that winning streak has been our starting pitchers are more around the plate in the zone and competitive,&#8221; Oregon coach Ryan Stace said. \u201cThey keeping us in games and allowing our defense to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oregon 14, Madison La Follette 5<\/p>\n<p>Cole Devenport went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and was one of five players with mutli-hit games as the Panthers slugged their way to the win.<\/p>\n<p>Ray Hutchinson went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Easton WIlk finished 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and Daniel Neis went 2-for-5 with two triples and two RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur bats have come alive,\u201d Stace said. \u201cDanny Neis has really been in a groove. We are having a better approach at the plate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Schultz went 2-for-5 and Calvin Ritter knocked in two runs.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon used a trio of pitchers. Gavin VonAllmen pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits. He struck out nine and walked three.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon 12, Monroe 8<\/p>\n<p>Oregon 20, Monroe 3<\/p>\n<p>Ritter went 5-for-9 and scored six runs combined in the doubleheader sweep of the Cheesemakers.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Dillon McCarthy went a combined 5-for-9 with four RBIs in the twinbill. Neis finished 5-for-10 with four RBIs combined in the doubleheader. The Panthers pounded out 29 hits in two games.<\/p>\n<p>In the first game of the twinbill, the Panthers were clinging to a 4-3 lead after three innings. Oregon broke the game open with a five-run fourth. Neis delivered an RBI single. McCarthy knocked in a run on a ground out. Senior Ben Borchardt, Schultz and junior Braden Osterhaus each came through with RBI singles in the big inning to extend the Panthers&#8217; lead to 9-3.<\/p>\n<p>Borchardt pitched four innings to earn the win. He gave up three earned runs on two hiatus, while striking out three and walking three. Schultz tossed two innings in relief and surrendered two earned runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked one.<\/p>\n<p>In the second game of the doubleheader, VonAllmen went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Senior Landon Gladden finished 2-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers scored 10 runs in the seventh. The Cheesemakers walked in four runs. Oregon got RBI singles from VonAllmen, Ritter and Neis. McCarthy roped a two-run double and Hutchinson had an RBI single.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Caiden Kruser was dominant on the mound, giving up two earned runs on three hits. He struck out eight and walked two. Neis tossed two shutout innings in relief.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon 5, Baraboo 3<\/p>\n<p>Wilk provided a jolt and the Panthers rode one big inning to a victory over the Thunderbirds to complete a season sweep.<\/p>\n<p>Wilk blasted a triple leading off the third. The Panthers batted around the order in a five-run third., Ritter came through with an RBI single to left to score Wilk to tie the game at 1. Neis then burned for a single. McCarthy reached on an error and the Panthers scored another run. Borchardt knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead. The Panthers scored another run on an error by the Thunderbirds and Gladden had an RBI single to give the Panthers a 5-1 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Gladden cruised on the mound, giving up three earned runs on five hits, while striking out six and walking four. The only mistake pitch came when Baraboo\u2019s Peyton Poker crushed a two-run home run to right field in the fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon 6, Baraboo 2<\/p>\n<p>Gavin Kupcho went 2-for-3 and McCarthy went 2-for-4 to lead the Panthers to a comeback road win over the Thunderbirds.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on Devenport and Schultz\u2019s RBI singles. Oregon put the game away with a three-run sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon junior Tony Perkins gave up one earned run on 11 hits in 6 \u2154 innings to earn the win.
