{"id":698571,"date":"2026-05-14T08:12:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T08:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/698571\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T08:12:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T08:12:54","slug":"marlins-put-no-2-pitching-prospect-robby-snelling-on-il","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/698571\/","title":{"rendered":"Marlins put No. 2 pitching prospect Robby Snelling on IL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 The Florida Marlins placed left-handed pitcher Robby Snelling on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, one day after an MRI revealed the team\u2019s No. 2 pitching prospect has a sprained UCL in his left elbow. <\/p>\n<p>Snelling, who <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/robby-snelling-debut-marlins-38946dc4179ff191fa645798a8744b4e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">made his MLB debut on May 8<\/a> with five solid innings in a loss to the Nationals, was scheduled to start Thursday\u2019s series finale against the Twins at Target Field, but he reported discomfort in his left elbow after a bullpen session. Instead, RHP Braxton Garrett has joined the team in Minneapolis and is expected to be activated for Thursday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n<p>Miami acquired the 22-year-old Snelling from San Diego for reliever Tanner Scott <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/padres-tanner-scott-f311ed9c4cdf54688bff02deea610636\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in July 2024<\/a>. He was ranked the Marlins\u2019 second-rated pitching prospect before the club promoted him from Triple-A Jacksonville last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRobby was certainly disappointed,\u201d Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said. \u201cYou know, you work your entire life for the opportunity to become a major league player, and you come up, and you make your major league debut, and then for something to pop up like this very shortly after, it\u2019s disappointing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Marlins filled Snelling\u2019s roster spot by activating RHP Pete Fairbanks from the 15-day IL.
