The Royals <\/a>are now 2-4 vs the White Sox this year, after dropping a second straight game 6-5.<\/p>\n

These aren\u2019t your older brother\u2019s White Sox. During the previous two seasons, the Royals won 22 of 26 games against the South Siders. But things have changed now. The White Sox beat the Royals 6-5 on Wednesday night at Rate Field for Chicago\u2019s fourth victory in six tries against KC this season. It was also the Royals\u2019 third straight loss and they dropped to 19-24. The Royals are just four back of the Guardians in the American League Central, but Cleveland is the only team above .500. Chicago improved to 21-21.<\/p>\n

Royals manager Matt Quatraro was asked before the game if he expects a tight race in the division. \u201cI would think, but I hope not,\u201d Quatraro said. \u201cI hope we run away with it. That\u2019s our plan, but we\u2019ve got to play good baseball more consistently to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nick Loftin<\/a> has been one of the better pinch-hitting options this season.<\/p>\n

Off the bench this year, Loftin is 5-for-8 with four doubles and six RBIs. As a pinch-hitter specifically, he\u2019s 3-for-3 with two doubles, one sacrifice fly and four RBIs. His latest clutch moment was a pinch-hit two-run double in the sixth inning Tuesday \u2013 an early pinch-hit appearance, but the right button pushed by Quatraro.<\/p>\n
