The Cleveland Guardians<\/a> have spent a long time trying to solve the catcher position.<\/p>\n

There solution might currently be at Triple-A Columbus, and his name is Cooper Ingle.<\/p>\n

The problem is that Cleveland doesn’t necessarily seem like Ingle’s promotion is imminent.<\/p>\n

Just a week ago, they wanted to replace Bo Naylor<\/a> and send him back down, but rather than calling up Ingle, they negotiated a notable trade for San Francisco Giants<\/a> catcher Patrick Bailey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bailey is a top-notch defender, but he can’t really hit. The Guardians pinch-hit Austin Hedges<\/a>, not a notably strong hitter, for Bailey in recent action, so it’s clear the bats behind the plate still aren’t up to par.<\/p>\n

Would Ingle solve that? His Triple-A numbers certainly suggest he could.<\/p>\n

The Guardians actually have a bit of an odd situation given that Naylor is down at Triple-A, too, so there are a lot of players looking for catcher at bats and only so many to be given.<\/p>\n

Ingle, though, seems like he could be the future of the position in Cleveland.<\/p>\n
