MILWAUKEE (AP) \u2014 The Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>\u2019 star-studded rotation is missing a couple of key pitchers, with two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell<\/a> and Tyler Glasnow<\/a> on the injured list.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles<\/a>\u2019 bullpen has picked up the slack by producing a record run of effectiveness even while dealing with its own injury issues.<\/p>\n

Dodgers relievers have thrown 36 straight shutout innings. That represents the longest such streak for any bullpen in the franchise\u2019s storied history since at least 1901. According to Sportradar, the last time any major league bullpen had this long a streak was in September 2017, when Cleveland relievers threw 39 straight scoreless innings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re on a heater,\u201d Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Los Angeles relievers threw four more shutout innings in an 11-3 victory<\/a> over the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> on Saturday night. \u201cIt\u2019s one of those things: When it doesn\u2019t go well, they get the blame. And when it does go well, they don\u2019t get a lot of the credit. But they are getting the credit now, and it\u2019s earned.\u201d<\/p>\n

This bullpen is dominating even without Edwin D\u00edaz<\/a>, the three-time All-Star closer who joined the Dodgers<\/a> in December on a three-year, $69 million contract. D\u00edaz hasn\u2019t pitched since undergoing elbow surgery<\/a> in late April, and he isn\u2019t expected to return until after the All-Star break.<\/p>\n

His absence hasn\u2019t mattered lately.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles\u2019 bullpen hasn\u2019t allowed a run in its last 10 games. The last time anyone scored against a Dodgers reliever was in a 6-2 loss<\/a> to the San Francisco Giants<\/a> on May 12.<\/p>\n

Before this stretch, the longest streak of consecutive scoreless innings by Dodgers relievers in baseball’s modern era was a 33-inning run in April 1998.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got really good arms and anyone can pitch in any situation,\u201d said Tanner Scott<\/a>, whose four saves match D\u00edaz for the team lead. \u201cThat\u2019s huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ability of these relievers to thrive in different roles was evident Saturday as Alex Vesia<\/a>, Kyle Hurt<\/a>, Scott and Jonathan Hern\u00e1ndez allowed only one hit and three walks over the last four innings.<\/p>\n

Scott worked the eighth rather than the ninth to face the middle of Milwaukee\u2019s batting order, and he responded with three strikeouts. Vesia entered earlier than usual and recorded consecutive strikeouts of Gary S\u00e1nchez<\/a> and Jake Bauers<\/a> in the sixth.<\/p>\n

Roberts said the relievers\u2019 willingness to adapt results from the culture instilled by bullpen coach Josh Bard and assistant pitching coach Connor McGuiness, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like excuses,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cWhen your number\u2019s called, you\u2019ve got to be ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

That attitude carries over from the tested veterans to the younger pitchers in Los Angeles\u2019 bullpen.<\/p>\n

For instance, Hurt had only four games of major league experience before this season. The 27-year-old right-hander allowed a run in his season debut April 15 but has thrown 14 straight scoreless innings since.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just feel extremely confident out there right now,\u201d Hurt said. \u201cThat\u2019s kind of all I can lean on. We\u2019re all big leaguers. We\u2019re all here for a reason. I\u2019m just trusting myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

This bullpen has the Dodgers\u2019 trust as the NL West leaders chase a third straight World Series title.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing is they\u2019re attacking the hitters,\u201d said outfielder Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>, who had a homer and six RBIs on Saturday. \u201cThey\u2019re pounding the strike zone. When they need a pitch for a double play, they execute it really well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn \u201924, they helped us a lot, \u201925, too. This year\u2019s not going to be different. They\u2019re built for this and they\u2019re ready for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
