In a busy week for the Wilmington High baseball team, the Wildcats chalk\u00aded up their second win of the season against Water\u00adtown while also facing Reading, Burlington and Wakefield.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Wilmington dropped a 12-5 decision to Wakefield.<\/p>\n
Will Poyant was 1 for 3 and drove in two runs for Wilmington, Theo Bryson was 2 for 4 and scored a run and Aidan Harris also had an RBI.<\/p>\n
Other hits for the \u2019Cats came from Andrew Poyant and Sean O\u2019Brien. John Roofe walked twice and scored a run.<\/p>\n
In a 7-2 loss in Burling\u00adton on Friday, Wilmington led 2-0 early against a sur\u00adging Red Devil squad.<\/p>\n
Julian Martins led off the game for WHS with a single up the middle before Bryson\u2019s base hit put runners on first and second.<\/p>\n
With one out, an error scored Martins and moved Bryson to third before Ry\u00adan Gray\u2019s single to right made it 2-0.<\/p>\n
The day started great for the Wildcats defensively as well as Burlington went down 1-2-3 in the first with Martins making two solid plays on grounders to shortstop and JR Hagger\u00adty earned a strikeout.<\/p>\n
The \u2019Cats almost added to their lead in the second.<\/p>\n
Harris singled and Da\u00advio Dicenso walked with one out. Wilmington had runners on second and third with two outs before a ground out ended the inning.<\/p>\n
Jackson Hegarty had an infield hit in the fourth and Bryson had a base hit in the fifth before another good chance to score in the seventh when Hegarty walked to lead off and Harris was hit by a pitch, but the Burlington defense ended up keep Wilmington off of the scoreboard.<\/p>\n
Haggerty pitched into the fifth for the Wildcats before Martins threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.<\/p>\n
Before Burlington, the Wildcats edged Watertown, 7-6.<\/p>\n
Wilmington scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.<\/p>\n
Roman Synnott and Gray opened the inning with walks and Will Poyant was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out.<\/p>\n
Noah Titterington then drew a walk, forcing in the winning run.<\/p>\n
It was truly a walk off victory.<\/p>\n
Wilmington scored in ev\u00adery inning except the second.<\/p>\n
In the first, Bryson walk\u00aded and Synnott singled be\u00adfore Gray scored Bryson with a sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n
Bryson scored again in the third when he singled and then scored on a Wa\u00adtertown error on a ground\u00ader by Gray.<\/p>\n
Andrew Poyant hit an RBI single in the fourth and in a two-run fifth in\u00adning, Martins and Bryson singled before Martins scored on a sacrifice fly by Synnott and Bryson scored on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n
Andrew Poyant scored in the sixth. He singled with two outs, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and raced home on another wild pitch.<\/p>\n
The Wildcats play Wake\u00adfield on Tuesday and Con\u00adcord-Carlisle on Wednes\u00adday before finishing the season hosting a Memo\u00adrial Day tournament.
