They outscored the Tigers 18-8 and collected 27 hits. While they battled the weather in Philadelphia, they were able to take two of three from the Phillies. This was a much closer series, however, as they won game one 1-0 and game three 3-1. While their only loss came in the form of a shutout, they only lost by one run. This big week for the Guards helped them to extend their lead in the division to 4.5 games over the second place Chicago White Sox.

Bazzana Quickly Finding Success in Leadoff

The Guardians announced prior to Saturday’s game in Philadelphia that Travis Bazzana would be moved to the leadoff spot in the lineup. Usual leadoff man Steven Kwan had been moved to the sixth spot on May 16th due to his recurring struggles at the plate. His place had been taken by both Daniel Schneeman and Ángel Martínez, but Stephen Vogt decided to switch Bazzana to the spot on Saturday. It is quickly paying dividends, as his average has shot up from .273 to .294 thanks to a three hit game including a home run on Sunday. While Kwan has also begun to heat up, there’s been no word on if he will return to the leadoff spot or if Bazzana will stay where he is.

It was announced last Monday that the Guardians were calling up their number three prospect to Triple-A Columbus from Double-A Akron. So far in 2026, the young first baseman is hitting .314/.411/.553. So far in Columbus, he’s collected four hits including two doubles and has only struck out once. There’s been no official word as to if or when we will see him in Cleveland this year, but he is already proving that he has no trouble adjusting to different levels of baseball. I’m just under two weeks away from going to see the Clippers, so here’s hoping he at least stays there that long.

This week’s Social Media Spotlight comes from Team Historian Jeremy Feador. Here, he shares an impressive stat for Chase DeLauter who continues his solid rookie season.

There’s almost nothing negative to come out of the last week for the Guardians, so I’ve just had…

[2380
5,135,51,79922,2565,538,4
post-708444","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cleveland-guardians","tag-baseball","tag-cleveland","tag-cleveland-guardians","tag-cleveland-guardians-discussion","tag-clevelandguardians","tag-guardians","tag-mlb
["GET
