After sweeping the Kansas City Royals<\/a> on the road last week, the Boston Red Sox<\/a> returned home with some exciting momentum<\/a> heading into their Memorial Day Weekend series against the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, that momentum is now gone<\/a> after the Twins swept the Red Sox<\/a>, continuing Boston’s alarming struggles<\/a> at home this year. The Red Sox have now lost five straight series at Fenway Park and are\u00a01-6-1 in home series this year.<\/p>\n

Boston hasn’t won a Fenway series in nearly two months, with its only one this season coming against the Milwaukee Brewers during its first homestand of the year back in early April. Incredibly, they haven’t had a winning record on any of their five homestands.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox are now 8-17 with a minus-23 run differential at home this year, which translates to a brutal .320 winning percentage. That’s the worst home record<\/a> in baseball this season, and they are the only team without double-digit wins at home yet.<\/p>\n

Boston’s bats have been MIA at home, averaging just 2.96 runs per game there. In 25 home games, they have\u00a013 home runs and a .224\/.302\/.337 batting line\u00a0—\u00a0shocking numbers<\/a>\u00a0considering that Fenway is one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Red Sox pitchers\u00a0have been tremendous<\/a>\u00a0at home with a 3.49 ERA. They’re just not getting any run support.<\/p>\n

Boston’s puzzling Fenway woes<\/a> are a big reason why they’re 22-30 and last in the AL East. They may continue this week as well with MLB’s best team, the Atlanta Braves, coming to town for a tough three-game series.<\/p>\n
