Not long ago, Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow was questioning whether or not<\/a> San Francisco\u2019s top prospect Bryce Eldridge<\/a> should remain on the big league roster.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, before the Giants\u2019 3-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Krukow was humming a different tune when he joined KNBR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a time I thought he should have been sent down, but I certainly don\u2019t feel that way now,\u201d Krukow explained on “Murph and Markus.” \u201cI think his at-bats have been fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old was playing minimal time, failing to get a rhythm with his at-bats and was \u00a0just two for his last 15.<\/p>\n

Prior to his 0-for-2 performance Wednesday<\/a>, Eldridge was 6-for-21 in his last six games. But not only the numbers, but the nuances \u2013 like an at-bat against Arizona\u2019s Merrill Kelly on Monday where the rookie worked his way into a walk his third time facing the right-hander — have Krukow changing his beliefs about the first baseman.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s ever going back down,\u201d Krukow said. \u201cWhat I\u2019m seeing right now at the plate, he\u2019s confident. He\u2019s projecting confidence, he\u2019s taking tough pitches, he\u2019s working counts, getting counts in his favor, and he\u2019s making some loud contact. Everything about the guy excites me and I\u2019m really looking forward to his at-bats now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following today\u2019s game, Eldridge has now played in five of the last six<\/a> Giants games.<\/p>\n

The team might be 1-4 in those appearances, but the reps are the important factor for a future key cog of the franchise.<\/p>\n
