Coming off four-game series against division opponents, the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> and Minnesota Twins<\/a> will face off Friday night to open a weekend set.<\/p>\n

The game marks the season debut for Pirates starter Jared Jones<\/a>, who will make his first start since Sept. 27, 2024 after completing his rehab from elbow surgery. Still just 24 years old, the right-hander had a promising rookie season two years ago before sitting out all of 2025.<\/p>\n

He rejoins a Pirates team that has been playing solid baseball but can’t catch a break in the standings, as the NL Central remains the lone division in baseball with every team boasting a winning record.<\/p>\n

The same cannot be said about the AL Central, where the Twins sit in the middle of the pack alongside the resurgent White Sox<\/a> with everyone looking up at the Guardians. Minnesota has shaken off its April malaise with a strong May and will send arguably its most effective starter to the mound Friday in Taj Bradley<\/a>, who is 5-1 with a 2.77 ERA and has allowed just 42\u00a0 hits in 52 innings while striking out 59.<\/p>\n
