Columbus Clippers (29-25) – AAA<\/p>\n
The Columbus Clippers faced off against the Detroit Tigers AAA Affiliate in Toledo last night, securing another victory. Ryan Webb got the start for the Clippers, throwing 4.0 innings. Webb allowed 4 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6 batters. Tommy Mace threw 2.0 IP, 2H, 2R\/ER, 1BB, 1K. Steven P\u00e9rez earned his second win on the season, improving to 2-3. He allowed 1 walk as the sole baserunner, striking out 2 batters. Daniel Espino earned his fifth hold in the eighth inning. He allowed two hits and one earned run. Tanner Burns closed out the game in a save situation. His scoreless, hitless inning earned him his fourth save of the season.<\/p>\n
Much like the Cleveland Guardians last night, the Clippers started off the game with a 4-run first inning. Cooper Ingle drew a lead off walk to start the game. Kahlil Watson and George Valera hit back-to-back, one-out singles to tack on the first run of the game. Bo Naylor and CJ Kayfus drew back to back walks, scoring another run. A double from Kody Huff put two more on the board for a nice crooked number inning.<\/p>\n
In the second inning, Juan Brito singled on a liner to right. Kahlil Watson brought him home with his eleventh home run of the season.<\/p>\n
In the fourth inning, George Valera engineered himself a run with a two out walk and stolen base (his first of the season) to put himself in scoring position. Bo Naylor singled on a ground ball and the speedy Valera put another run up.<\/p>\n
xBH\u2019s were the name of the game in the top of the eighth. Cooper Ingle hit a one-out triple to center with the Clippers up by one run. Juan Brito doubled in the next at bat, scoring Ingle. George Valera hit a two-out triple to right to score Brito.<\/p>\n
Kody Huff hit a two-out triple in the top of the ninth. Cooper Ingle drew a walk and Juan Brito singled on a liner to center to score Huff.<\/p>\n
Bo Naylor went 2-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. George Valera went 2-for-4 with 2R, 2RBI, a triple and a walk.<\/p>\n
Akron RubberDucks (26-23) – AA<\/p>\n
The Akron RubberDucks and the Richmond Flying Squirrels had a one run battle last night with Camden Favors getting the start for the RubberDucks. Favors went six innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5 batters. Jay Driver pitched two, allowing one baserunner via a hit and struck out 3 batters. Sean Matson closed out the game, taking his first loss of the season with Akron in extras. The ghost runner scored in the tenth inning, giving the Flying Squirrels the win.<\/p>\n
All three of the Akron runs came in the bottom of the seventh. Wuilfredo Antunez drew a one-out walk. A force out left Antunez out at second and Mooney on base at first with two outs. Juan Benjamin drew a walk to reach. Mooney and Benjamin completed a double steal to both move to scoring position. A single from Jose Devers scored both Mooney and Benjamin. Christian Knapczyk doubled to right to score Devers.<\/p>\n
Lake County Captains (26-22) – High A<\/p>\n
The Lake County Captains had a commanding five run victory over the Beliot Sky Carp. Milkas Hern\u00e1ndez started the game, only pitching 3.2 innings while allowed 3R\/2ER on 4H, 5BB, and striking out 5 batters. A throwing error by Tommy Hawke in the bottom of the second scored the unearned run. Logan McGuire closed out the fourth inning, walking one and striking out one. Jogly Garc\u00eda went 2.1 innings, blowing the save with 4R\/ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K. Cam Schuelke earned his second win of the season with 2H, 2BB, and 2Ks.<\/p>\n
In the top of the second Bennett Thompson reached on a throwing error by the Beliot third baseman. Back-to-back singles scored Bennett Thompson. Estban Gonz\u00e1lez singled with a liner to right, scoring Collado and putting the Caps up 2-0.<\/p>\n
The Sky Carp came back to go up a run into the top of the third. Luke Hill hit a lead off homer to left to tie it up.<\/p>\n
Nolan Schubart drew a walk and Bennett Thompson doubled to score another run. Maick Collado hit another single, scoring Thompson.<\/p>\n
Collado, in the top of the fifth, hit another RBI. Luke Hill and Nolan Schubart hit back to back singles, but Bennett Thompson grounded into a double play, leaving Hill on third base. Collado\u2019s single to center scored Hill to put the Caps up by 3.<\/p>\n
In the top of the sixth, Tommy Hawke singled to right, then stole second base. Aaron Walton walked and a wild pitch allowed both runners to advance. Luke Hill also drew a walk, but the speedy Tommy Hawke stole home with Walton advancing to third base behind him. Hill stole second to add one more stolen base to the inning.<\/p>\n
The Sky Carp fought back to tie up the game, but the Captains took a definitive lead in the top of the eighth. Kevin Rivas and Tommy Hawke drew back-to-back walks. Walton was hit by pitch to load them up. Luke Hill walked in another run, setting it up for Nolan Schubart. Schubart doubled on a liner to center, clearing the bases. Schubart advanced to third base on a throwing error.<\/p>\n
Bennett Thompson singled to score Schubart for the final run of the game for Lake County.<\/p>\n
Hill City Howlers (25-24) – Single A<\/p>\n
The Hill City Howlers sent things into extras, walking it off in the tenth inning. Jacob Zibin pitched a quality start for the Howlers. He pitched 6.0 innings allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6 batters. Luke Fernandez went 2.0 of scoreless innings himself. He allowed 3 hits and a walk, striking out 3. Angel Perez earned his fourth win of season, pitching the ninth and tenth inning, allowing only 1 walk and 1 hit, but struck out 3 batters.<\/p>\n
With two outs and down two runs, the Howlers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run from Jose Pirela. In the bottom of the seventh Yeiferth Castillo singled and stole second base. Tyler Howard drew a walk and a passed ball advanced both runners. Yaikel Mijares drew a walk and a wild pitch scored Castillo to tie the game. Things stayed tied, sending the game to extra innings. Mijares started the inning on second as the ghost runner. Johan Rodriguez was intentionally walked. Both runners advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch.
