They already know that they\u2019re going to be without Aaron Judge for at least the better part of two months (if not more) due to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinstripealley.com\/yankees-news\/191379\/yankees-news-aaron-judge-injury-outfield-rib-fracture-thoracic-outlet-syndrome-dominguez-stanton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stress fracture<\/a> in his rib. They\u2019ve lost four of their last six games, including a home series loss to the Guardians that saw the AL Central leaders rough up two previously unflustered aces in Cam Schlittler and Gerrit Cole. They lost the series opener against Boston last night thanks to some gopher-ball antics from Ryan Weathers and some defense and approaches at the plate that certainly left fans wanting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">The latest weirdness includes the catching situation. They\u2019ve received very little production at the plate from the Austin Wells\/J.C. Escarra tandem, and they decided to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Yankees\/status\/2063081166186414513\" rel=\"nofollow\">demote Escarra<\/a> after last night\u2019s game, seemingly with the desire to at least get a right-handed hitter in there in former big leaguer Ali S\u00e1nchez. He will start behind the plate on Saturday night. Then at 6:45pm ET \u2014 a little under an hour before first pitch \u2014 they <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Yankees\/status\/2063391952909877722\" rel=\"nofollow\">reactivated Escarra<\/a> because Wells needs to go on the IL with cervical headaches that sound downright painful, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GaryHPhillips\/status\/2063394308233785565?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cleveland Clinic<\/a>. What a joy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Oh, and the relish on top of this bizarre sandwich is that there are thunderstorms in the Tri-State Area and the game won\u2019t begin on time. The Yankees announced this at about the same time as the Wells IL move, and they <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Yankees\/status\/2063399899543028053\" rel=\"nofollow\">confirmed the rain delay<\/a> at 7:17pm ET.
