Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> starter Emmet Sheehan<\/a> pitched just 1.1 innings against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheehan had a rough outing Sunday despite getting through the first inning rather efficiently. The right-hander got two outs quickly in the first, and got a strikeout to end the inning after giving up a double to Wade Meckler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the second inning, though, Sheehan couldn\u2019t keep the Angels off of the bases. After getting the first out of the inning, Sheehan allowed a single and two walks to load the bases. His walk against Angels third baseman Nick Madrigal<\/a> took him 14 pitches, which was just one shy of his total for the entirety of the first inning.<\/p>\n

The Angels capitalized with the bases loaded, as catcher Sebastian Rivero<\/a> hit a single to plate two runners.<\/p>\n

Manager Dave Roberts came out of the dugout following the single, and took Sheehan out of the game for Edgardo Henriquez<\/a>. Henriquez managed to prevent any further damage in the inning.<\/p>\n

Sheehan has made 12 starts for the Dodgers this season, which matches the most he has made in a season for LA.<\/p>\n

He has a 4.70 ERA through 59.1 innings pitched, and has struck out 64 batters.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old came into Sunday\u2019s game following a decent start against the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>, where he pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just two runs on three hits. Sheehan has struggled with a few things this season\u2014mainly his velocity\u2014but has also struggled to keep the ball in the park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheehan allowed two homers against the Diamondbacks, and has given up 11 of them on the season.<\/p>\n

That matches the 11 he allowed in his rookie season in 2023, and he has pitched fewer innings this season.<\/p>\n

Sheehan clearly has some work to do if he\u2019s to remain in the Dodgers\u2019 rotation, and will hope he can take another step forward in his next start.<\/p>\n

That start is likely to come against the Chicago White Sox<\/a> on the road next weekend.<\/p>\n
