WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – The Watertown Rapids beat Rochester Thursday night in collegiate summer league baseball, while Canton advanced in high school softball playoffs.<\/p>\n
Rapids v. Rochester<\/p>\n
With a 1 run lead in the diurst inning, a wild pitch. allowed Will Harrison to score from third, upping the Rapids\u2019 lead to 2-0.<\/p>\n
Peyton Adams would also score on a Grant Bizanet single. <\/p>\n
Watertown ended up winning a close game 13-12.<\/p>\n
NEW YORK STATE BASEBALL PLAYOFFSClass A SubregionalMassena vs. New Hartford<\/p>\n
Massena got off to an early 1-0 lead when Marcus Firnstein singled to center field, setting up a Drake Love score.<\/p>\n
But after that it was mostly New Hartford; With the bases loaded, Ashton Palmer knocked in three runs for New Hartford to go up 3-1.<\/p>\n
Luke LaFountain would add to the New Hartford total, knocking in three runs.<\/p>\n
Cam Francis stole home for Massena\u2019s second run, but thef final score ended up New Hartford 15, Massena 2.<\/p>\n
Class B SubregionalUtica-Notre Dame vs. Canton<\/p>\n
It was a pitching duel early between Canton\u2019s Zadok Roiger and Utica\u2019s Owen Bougourd. Pitcher-on-pitcher, Roiger gets the strikeout in a 1-2 3 first inning.<\/p>\n
Then, in the bottom of the first inning, Roiger hit the ball to left-center, driving in Canton\u2019s first run. <\/p>\n
CAnton kept goling in the third inning, when Parker Ames hit a deep fly to center, letting Lukas Clausen score. That made it 2-0 Canton.<\/p>\n
Moving to the pivotal fifth, Dan Williams singled to center field, putting two on board for Utica.<\/p>\n
Thomas Carvelle drove in Utica\u2019s sixth run. Utica Notre Dame went on to defeat Canton 7-2.<\/p>\n
NEW YORK STATE SOFTBALL PLAYOFFSClass B SubregionalCanton vs. Marcellus<\/p>\n
Canton rolled over Mrcellus.<\/p>\n
Tessa Alguire singled to centerfield and knocked in two runs. That put Canton up 8-0.<\/p>\n
Jenna Larrabee contributed the hit which led to two more runs<\/p>\n
Alguire got the complete game victory. Canton racked up 15 hits, en-route to a 16-3 win over Marcellus.<\/p>\n
