His .940 OPS is .001 short of the NL lead, and he\u2019s one-third of an inning short of qualifying for the ERA lead at 1.06.<\/p>\n<p>Ohtani\u2019s on pace for a 12.4 WAR, which would tie him with Carl Yastrzemski\u2019s 1967 season for third best in the integration era (since 1947) behind only Dwight Gooden\u2019s 13.3 in 1985 and Steve Carlton\u2019s 12.5 in 1972, via MLB Network.<\/p>\n<p>To simultaneously be <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/09\/sports\/how-shohei-ohtani-has-leveled-his-pitching-with-dodgers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the best hitter and best pitcher<\/a> was previously seen as unfathomable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo do one or the other at this level is incredible.
