{"id":725382,"date":"2026-06-14T03:12:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T03:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/725382\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T03:12:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T03:12:30","slug":"collegiate-baseball-rapids-rochester-finish-in-10-10-tie-in-marathon-game-played-in-watertown-rapids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/725382\/","title":{"rendered":"Collegiate baseball: Rapids, Rochester finish in 10-10 tie in marathon game played in Watertown | Rapids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WATERTOWN \u2014 What proved to be a marathon game between the Watertown Rapids and Rochester Ridgemen didn\u2019t result in a winner on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams battled for nearly four hours, with the Rapids and Ridgemen finishing in a 10-10 tie through 10 innings in a New York Collegiate Baseball League game played before a turnout of 225 at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 7-4, Watertown (5-3-1) generated six runs in the seventh inning to take a 10-7 lead.<\/p>\n<p>The rally was keyed by an RBI single from Sam Finarelli, a two-run single from Will Harrison and a run scoring single from Peyton Adams. Also in the frame, one run scored on an error and another came home on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n<p>But Rochester (2-5-1) responded in the top of the eighth as Jake Gunning slugged a three-run home run to tie the game at 10-all.<\/p>\n<p>The Rapids would advance a runner to third base in each of the final three innings, but would fail to score.<\/p>\n<p>In the 10th inning, Tommy Ocasal was hit by pitch to lead off the bottom of the frame, went to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a passed ball, but after a strikeout a Watertown batter popped out to third base to end the threat.<\/p>\n<p>In the top of the 10th, Brody Winemiller drew a two-out walk, but Rect Shirakata struck out pinch hitter Aaron Newcomb for the final out.<\/p>\n<p>Shirakata, one of five Rapids pitchers on the day, pitched the final two innings.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Sovie started for Watertown and allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one over five innings.<\/p>\n<p>At the plate, Grant Bazinet doubled, singled and drove in a run and Nate Figueroa tripled and singled twice, with both scoring a pair of runs for the Rapids.<\/p>\n<p>Osacal, Harrison, Adams and Soichiro Hanawa each totaled a pair of hits, with Osacal and Harrison each knocking in two runs.<\/p>\n<p>Adams also scored on a flyout to center by Scott LaMountain in the first inning, Bazinet doubled in a run in the third and Ocasal followed with a two-run single in the fifth.<\/p>\n<p>JD Whitworth hit a grand-slam home run in the fourth inning for Rochester, Gunning also tripled and scored two runs and Cael Allen hit three singles and also scored two runs.<\/p>\n<p>The game was played in three hours and 45 minutes after the Rapids defeated Syracuse, 4-1, on Friday night in a game played in Watertown.<\/p>\n<p>Per league rules, all games which are tied through 10 innings officially end as a tie.<\/p>\n<p>After playing at Rochester at 5 p.m. Sunday, Watertown will return to host Rochester at 6:30 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"WATERTOWN \u2014 What proved to be a marathon game between the Watertown Rapids and Rochester Ridgemen didn\u2019t result&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":723665,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2288],"tags":[5,2323,2314,2317,2313,27598,2413,648,1987,19,2310,2328,2304,2318,2308,2319,4,2305,2303,1690,90572,27075,21192,185,2419,27597,1039],"class_list":["post-725382","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mlb-postseason","tag-baseball","tag-baseball-events","tag-baseball-finals","tag-baseball-games","tag-baseball-playoffs-and-champions","tag-blox-nny-sections","tag-champion-seasons-in-major-league-baseball","tag-college-baseball","tag-inning","tag-major-league-baseball","tag-major-league-baseball-competitions","tag-major-league-baseball-playoffs","tag-major-league-baseball-postseason","tag-major-league-baseball-seasons","tag-major-league-baseball-teams","tag-major-league-baseball-teams-seasons","tag-mlb","tag-mlb-playoffs","tag-mlb-postseason","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-collegiate-baseball-league","tag-rapids","tag-rochester-red-wings","tag-sports","tag-watertown","tag-wdt-sports","tag-world-series"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":"Validation failed: Text character limit of 500 exceeded"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/725382","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=725382"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/725382\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/723665"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=725382"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=725382"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=725382"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
