The Los Angeles Angels activated infielder Vaughn Grissom from the injured list before Wednesday\u2019s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, while infielder Trey Mancini was designated for assignment.<\/p>\n
Grissom, 25, was retroactively placed on the IL to June 5 with a left oblique strain. He was batting .246 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 40 games, while making starts at first base, second base and third base.<\/p>\n
Mancini, 34, was placed on the active roster June 8 after not playing in the major leagues since 2023 when he was a member of the Chicago Cubs. He was 4-for-13 (.308) in five games for the Angels with a triple and four RBIs.<\/p>\n
Mancini missed the entire 2020 season as he battled Stage 3 colon cancer. He did not play at all in 2024 and saw action in 74 Triple-A games in the Diamondbacks\u2019 organization in 2025. He signed a minor league deal with the Angels in February.<\/p>\n
In 836 games over eight seasons, Mancini is a career .263 hitter with 129 home runs and 404 RBIs for the Baltimore Orioles (2016-19, 21-22), Houston Astros (2022), Cubs and Angels.
