KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2014 The wait is over; the Kansas City Royals have called up their highly anticipated number one prospect, Jac Caglianone, according to ESPN\u2019s Jeff Passan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has been turning heads all season, including a brief but dominant stretch in Triple-A with the Omaha Storm Chasers.<\/p>\n

In just 12 games in AAA, Cags hit six home runs with and 13 RBIs, with a slash line of .319\/.370\/.723. Across AA and AAA this season, he is hitting .322\/.389\/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 50 games.<\/p>\n

Royals GM J.J. Picollo has reiterated the fact that he would not rush Caglianone to the majors, but the Royals\u2019 offensive struggles, likely compounded with Caglianone\u2019s performance, sped up the process.<\/p>\n

The Royals have struggled to manufacture runs all season despite having one of the best starting rotations in baseball all season. They are second in the AL in ERA but also second to last in the AL in runs scored.<\/p>\n

In fact, the Royals went scoreless today against the Tigers in a 1-0 loss, thwarting another excellent performance from Kris Bubic.<\/p>\n
