LOS ANGELES \u2014 As first pitch approaches between the Orioles and Dodgers on Sunday, the smoke and smog has begun to clear over Ch\u00e1vez Ravine.<\/p>\n
When players and staff members arrived Sunday morning to Dodger Stadium, there was a noticeable amount of smoke in the air, stemming from a warehouse fire in Boyle Heights, which is roughly four miles away as the crow flies.<\/p>\n
California issued a state of emergency<\/a> for Los Angeles County as the smoke from the fire billowed over the city\u2019s sprawl. But this series finale between the Dodgers and Orioles goes on as planned.<\/p>\n The fire began Wednesday at a cold storage facility. According to the local ABC affiliate<\/a>, the Los Angeles Fire Department said the fire was \u201cvery complex\u201d with numerous hazards for firefighters.<\/p>\n Helicopters could be heard flying past Dodger Stadium the past few days as firefighters used air drops <\/a>to attempt to quash flames. According to The Los Angeles Times<\/a>, foam within the building continues to burn, and an ammonia line ruptured within the building, which adds the potential for toxic fumes, and it can be very flammable.<\/p>\n
