{"id":732141,"date":"2026-06-21T23:21:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T23:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/732141\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T23:21:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T23:21:18","slug":"texas-rangers-corey-seager-making-progress-considered-day-to-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/732141\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Rangers&#8217; Corey Seager making progress, considered day-to-day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARLINGTON \u2014 Rangers shortstop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/rangers\/2025\/06\/04\/who-is-corey-seager-10-things-to-know-about-the-texas-rangers-world-series-mvp-shortstop\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Corey Seager<\/a> is &#8220;making progress,&#8221; according to president of baseball operations Chris Young, but it still not ready to return.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seager \u2014 who played catch, did defensive drills and ran on the field with his teammates before Sunday&#8217;s series finale against the San Diego Padres at Globe Life Field \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/rangers\/article\/corey-seager-near-return-concussion-texas-rangers-22313398.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">is still considered day-to-day<\/a> as he works his way back from the concussion injured list. He has missed nine consecutive games because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/rangers\/article\/corey-seager-near-return-concussion-texas-rangers-22313398.phphttps:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/rangers\/article\/corey-seager-near-return-concussion-texas-rangers-22313398.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a home plate collision left him with a mild concussion<\/a> and has undergone progressive workouts and tests since.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t put him in harm&#8217;s way,&#8221;\u00a0Young said. &#8220;We&#8217;ve got to make sure he&#8217;s 100%.\u00a0There are multiple tests that he has to pass as [part] of a vert specific concussion protocol, and with that, we&#8217;ve got to make sure he&#8217;s back to normal before we get him back on the field.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Seager has played in five games since May 13 because of two separate injuries. He missed three weeks with lower back inflammation, but after his return, he only notched five starts before he collided with Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen in a June 11 game. The 32-year-old has slashed a career-worst .186\/.284\/.373 in 47 games this season, though he hit two home runs in the week between his injuries. His nine total home runs are still tied for the second-most on the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Catcher Danny Jansen, sidelined since June 3 with a right forearm strain, threw from 60 feet out for the first time since his injury before Saturday&#8217;s game.
