{"id":733026,"date":"2026-06-23T00:42:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T00:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/733026\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T00:42:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T00:42:13","slug":"sf-giants-to-play-split-doubleheader-vs-diamondbacks-on-aug-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/733026\/","title":{"rendered":"SF Giants to play split doubleheader vs. Diamondbacks on Aug. 29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Giants announced on Monday afternoon that they will play a split doubleheader on Aug. 29 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing them to avoid a logistical nightmare after last week\u2019s series finale against the Atlanta Braves was postponed.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco and Arizona will now both have an off-day on Aug. 30.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the doubleheader, the team still plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/02\/22\/jeff-kent-overwhelmed-by-sf-giants-decision-to-retire-his-no-21\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">retire<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/12\/07\/jeff-kent-hall-of-fame-contemporary-era-barry-bonds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">incoming Hall of Famer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/12\/09\/for-kent-time-with-sf-giants-was-turning-point-in-hall-of-fame-career\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Kent\u2019s No. 21<\/a> on Aug. 29.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants were originally slated to play the Braves on June 18, but that game was postponed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/06\/18\/sf-giants-series-finale-vs-braves-postponed-to-aug-31\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aug. 31 due to rain<\/a>. If San Francisco\u2019s original schedule remained the same, the team would\u2019ve had to play 23 games in 23 consecutive days beginning on Aug. 18.<\/p>\n<p>Following their game against the Braves at Truist Park, the Giants will play three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, followed by three more against the New York Mets at Citi Field.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants were originally slated to give away a Jung Hoo Lee bobblehead on Aug. 30.
