MLB announced the finalists for Phase 2 of 2026 All-Star voting on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Dodgers have seven players who were named finalists, while the Los Angeles Angels have one representative. Most of these LA players have been named All-Stars in previous seasons but one player is looking to make his first appearance at the All-Star game in 2026.<\/p>\n

Phase 2 voting begins Monday at 9 am PT.<\/p>\n

DodgersShohei Ohtani<\/p>\n

Ohtani unsurprisingly secured the most votes for any players across MLB. Therefore, he automatically earned the starting designated hitter role for the National League team.<\/p>\n

This will be Ohtani\u2019s seventh All-Star game of his career.<\/p>\n

Freeman is a nine-time All-Star on track to make his 10th appearance at the Midsummer Classic this July.<\/p>\n

The first baseman earned 2,666,008 votes in Phase 1 to lead his position in the National League. If he remains on top, he will make the sixth All-Star game start of his career.<\/p>\n

Catcher Will Smith has been named an NL All-Star for three consecutive seasons. With 1,871,805 votes in Phase 1, Smith is in second place behind Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin.<\/p>\n

Third baseman Max Muncy leads his position in the NL with 2,890,181 votes in Phase 1.<\/p>\n

The two-time All-Star could become just the second third baseman in franchise history to win a fan election after Ron Cey accomplished that feat in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

Eight-time All-Star Mookie Betts is in a tight race with Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams for the starting spot on the NL team. Betts is second place with 1,762,343 votes, while Abrams accumulated 1,858,531 votes in Phase 1.<\/p>\n

Betts has started four times in an All-Star game as an outfielder but this would be his first time starting at shortstop in the Midsummer Classic.<\/p>\n

Outfielder Andy Pages has never earned an All-Star selection even after a standout season in 2025.<\/p>\n

This season, he leads NL outfielders with 2,158,664 votes in Phase 1.<\/p>\n

Outfielder Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez is a two-time All-Star looking to make his third appearance at the Midsummer Classic. If Hern\u00e1ndez and Pages both earn All-Star selections, they will become the first pair of outfielders in Dodgers history to win fan elections in the same season.<\/p>\n

The Angels only have one player that made it to Phase 2 of the All-Star voting: franchise legend Mike Trout.<\/p>\n

Multiple other Halos players received votes<\/a> in Phase 1 but ultimately did not make it to Phase 2. Catcher Logan O\u2019Hoppe and shortstop Zach Neto finished eighth in the American League for their positions. Meanwhile, second baseman Vaughn Grisson and designated hitter Jorge Soler finished in 10th place in the AL.<\/p>\n

Mike Trout<\/p>\n

Trout is an 11-time AL All-Star and has started in 10 All-Star games. He has not earned an All-Star selection since the 2023 season but he could make his return this season.<\/p>\n

And what makes his potential return to the All-Star game even more special<\/a> is that the game is set to take place in Philadelphia, which is just 40 miles from his hometown in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it first came up a couple years ago that 2026 would be in Philly, that was one I really wanted to get to,\u201d Trout said, per MLB. \u201cSo to be up there in the voting means a lot. Hope I get in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trout has been out with a right hamstring strain since June 18 and is currently on the injured list. He is expected to return sometime in July, and the All-Star game is scheduled for July 14.<\/p>\n

Despite his current stint<\/a> on the IL, Trout finished second in voting for outfielders behind New York Yankees star Aaron Judge.<\/p>\n
