{"id":739939,"date":"2026-07-01T02:27:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T02:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/739939\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T02:27:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T02:27:24","slug":"willson-contreras-among-four-ejected-after-red-sox-nationals-on-field-brawl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/739939\/","title":{"rendered":"Willson Contreras among four ejected after Red Sox-Nationals on-field brawl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras on Tuesday night was ejected for the second consecutive game, but this time he wasn\u2019t alone.<\/p>\n<p>Interim manager Chad Tracy, outfielder Nate Eaton and Washington Nationals pitcher Miles Mikolas were also tossed following a fiery brawl in the bottom of the fourth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Contreras was at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NESN\/status\/2072116994661331040\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">epicenter of Fenway Fight Night<\/a>. With one out in the inning, he struck out looking at a 3-2 sweeper from Nationals starter Cade Cavalli. Game footage showed Cavalli saying, \u201cSit down, boy. You heard me, you heard me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Contreras responded, \u201cYou talking to me? Why are you talking to me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz attempted to calm his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2026\/06\/30\/red-sox-mlb-mlbpa-players-association-union-joint-donation-one-million-dollars-venezuela-earthquake-relief-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fellow Venezuelan countryman<\/a> and lead him back to his dugout, but something incensed Contreras further. The benches and bullpens were already emptying as Contreras spiked his batting helmet, hitting first baseman Andres Chaparro, and charged into the fray.<\/p>\n<p>Contreras had to be pulled away by several Red Sox teammates, as well as Ruiz.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy was ejected after arguing further with the umpires, which earned him a standing ovation from the Fenway Faithful.
