Hanks received an Oscar nomination in the supporting actor category for his turn as Rogers in the 2019 Heller production. <\/p>\n<p>Based on a short story by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dave-eggers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Eggers<\/a>\u00a0that was turned into a script by Heller, the film is a love letter to baseball and offers a plum part to an up-and-coming leading man. Hanks plays the pitching coach of a major league hurler whose life is upended when he is hit in the head by a line drive on the mound. The devastating comebacker changes his life in all kinds of ways. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHanks\u2019 Playtone is produced with Leah Holzer in cooperation with Major League Baseball.
