ST. MARYS \u2014 After opening with a walk-off win over St. Marys\/Potter McKean in their District 10 Junior Little League baseball opener, the Brookville All-Stars bowed out with two straight losses.<\/p>\n
Last Saturday at Memorial Park, St. Marys\/Potter McKean avenged its earlier loss last Tuesday with a 5-1 win.<\/p>\n
Brookville managed just three hits off St. Marys\/Potter McKean pitcher Joseph Welch as the hosts scored twice in the third inning and three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to set the final.<\/p>\n
The lone Brookville run came in the top of the first as Kabe Kaltenbach walked and stole second and third before scoring on Seth Welsh\u2019s groundout.<\/p>\n
From there, Brookville couldn\u2019t get much going as Welch struck out five and walked four. The three Brookville hits were all singles by Harris Whitling, Elliott Schrecengost and Max Barkley.<\/p>\n
Cooper Peterson went all six innings on the mound for Brookville, giving up seven hits while walking three and striking out none.<\/p>\n

DuBois 13, Brookville 2<\/p>\n
At Stern Field in a makeup of the originally scheduled game for Thursday at McKinley Field, it was DuBois limiting Brookville to two hits in the winners\u2019 bracket final matchup.<\/p>\n
DuBois slugged out 14 hits, five of them going for extra bases, hitting the gaps on the turf and taking advantage of some speed. Two were inside-the-park homers as Landon Liddle led off the game with a four-bagger that skipped fast down the right-field line to the fence.<\/p>\n
Then in the fifth with DuBois leading 4-2, Axton Carr\u2019s liner to left field got under the glove of leftfielder Elliott Schrecengost and rolled to the fence for a grand slam to make it 8-2. He finished 3-for-3 a walk and three runs scored<\/p>\n
That lead wound up being more than enough as the trio of Liddle, Logan Sopic and Mason Blasco held Brookville to just two hits.<\/p>\n
Liddle started and went the first two innings, striking out two and walking one. Sopic worked 2 1\/3 innings with six strikeouts and one walk while Blasco finished things out over the final 2 2\/3 innings, striking out two and walking two while hitting a batter.<\/p>\n
BrantLee Burney had both hits, singles, for Brookville. In the fourth, he led off with a single and scored thanks to two DuBois infield errors that led to a second unearned run. At that point, Brookville cut it to 4-2, but DuBois kept hitting.<\/p>\n
Burney and Seth Welsh pitched for Brookville with Burney going the first four-plus innings and Welsh finishing the final three. Burney walked three and struck out one while Welsh didn\u2019t walk or strike out anyone, but hit a batter.<\/p>\n
Of DuBois\u2019 13 runs, only seven were earned as Brookville committed four errors, three of them in the seventh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
