The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 3-0 on Saturday, July 4th, taking their third straight game against their division foe.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers were amazing in every phase of the game, with timely hits and quality pitching. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a great start <\/a>\u2014 going seven innings of scoreless baseball.<\/p>\n

He gave up just three hits, two walks, and got 10 strikeouts on the day. The Padres had no answers for the Japanese righty, lowering his ERA to 2.49.<\/p>\n

Then, the bullpen came in and delivered two more shutout innings, with Brock Stewart, Alex Vesia, and Will Klein pitching like they have all season long.<\/p>\n

Offensively, things were not as electric. Freddie Freeman was amazing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk. He drove in two runs, including a home run.<\/p>\n

The only other players to get a hit were Andy Pages, Alex Freeland, and Mookie Betts \u2014 but it was enough to get past a Padres team that has struggled hitting-wise.<\/p>\n

Also, the Dodgers were without Shohei Ohtani, who missed the game due to rest and a sore bicep.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers\u2019 National League West lead over the Padres grew to 15 games as they improved to 59-21. San Diego has now been overtaken by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who sit in second place in the division, another 14 games down on the Dodgers.<\/p>\n

The division lead is getting to a point where the Dodgers can get quite comfortable up top, but if they want to secure a playoff bye, they need to keep their foot on the pedal.<\/p>\n

When do the Dodgers play next?<\/p>\n

The Dodgers close out their series against the Padres on Sunday. They can continue to grow the gap between themselves and the Padres.<\/p>\n

The game starts at 4:20 p.m. PST at Dodger Stadium. This will be the last time they play the Padres until September.<\/p>\n

Emmet Sheehan, who has been inconsistent, will be facing off against JP Sears in a game where the Dodgers will be massive favorites, considering the pitching advantage and bullpen usage edge.<\/p>\n
