CHEYENNE \u2013 The Cheyenne Sixers overcame five defensive errors to beat Parker Lightning 4-2 to close out pool play at the Mark Rob\u00e9rt Classic on Saturday evening at Powers Field.<\/p>\n
The game was tied 2-2 heading into the fourth inning. Cheyenne pulled ahead 3-2 on a steal of home by junior Quentin King.<\/p>\n
King led the Sixers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Demitri Cotton also had a hit and an RBI.<\/p>\n
Senior right-hander Kian McDonough went the distance on the mound, striking out three and scattering six hits. He didn\u2019t walk any batters, and none of the runs he surrendered was earned.<\/p>\n
Cheyenne (44-10-1) face Laramie at 10:30 a.m. today at Powers Field.<\/p>\n
Hawks close Rob\u00e9rt Classic with loss<\/p>\n
CHEYENNE \u2013 The Cheyenne Hawks notched just three hits during a 3-1 loss to Fort Collins, Colorado, to close pool play at the Mark Rob\u00e9rt Classic on Saturday evening at Pioneer Park.<\/p>\n
All of the runs were scored during the first inning.<\/p>\n
Troy Nelson plated Cheyenne\u2019s lone run with a double in the opening frame. Kellin Wenzel and Damien Harwell also had singles for Cheyenne (33-13).<\/p>\n
Ayden Gamo went six innings on the mound, striking out two and walking two. He gave up eight hits and just one earned run.<\/p>\n
Boston Erickson worked the final inning in relief, striking out one and giving up no hits.<\/p>\n
