DETROIT \u2013 The Detroit Pistons<\/a> are among several NBA teams that have contacted the Houston Rockets to inquire about Kevin Durant<\/a>\u2019s availability this offseason, per reports.<\/p>\n

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints while Houston is not actively shopping Durant, the veteran forward is not considered \u201cuntouchable\u201d as the Rockets continue evaluating their roster following a busy offseason. <\/p>\n

No trade discussions are believed to be imminent.<\/p>\n

A few teams have made calls to the Rockets asking about Kevin Durant’s availability this offseason, including the Pistons, sources told @ClutchPoints<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Durant appeared to fuel speculation Sunday (July 5) by posting a photo on Instagram wearing a Detroit Tigers cap featuring the club\u2019s iconic Old English \u201cD.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Siegel, the Pistons are expected to have strong interest if Houston eventually makes Durant available, in part because of the mutual respect between Durant and Detroit star Cade Cunningham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two players have publicly expressed admiration for one another.<\/p>\n

During an episode on Durant\u2019s \u201cBoardroom\u201d platform, Cunningham discussed the possibility of being drafted by Houston in 2021 before ultimately being selected No. 1 overall by Detroit.<\/p>\n

Durant used the conversation to praise both Cunningham and the Pistons\u2019 rebuilding effort.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Detroit for you,\u201d Durant said. \u201cIt\u2019s a hardworking city. The people there really grind. The Detroit Pistons brand from the Bad Boys days, even the \u201904 Pistons, I feel like you were the type of player to kind of bring that back together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Durant also noted that, after several difficult seasons marked by coaching and front-office changes, Detroit appears to have established a foundation centered on Cunningham.<\/p>\n

Durant would fill key void for rebuilding Pistons<\/p>\n

The Pistons have been searching for another elite scorer to complement Cunningham after their return to playoff contention. <\/p>\n

Durant would immediately become one of the Pistons\u2019 top offensive options despite entering his 19th NBA season.<\/p>\n

During the 2025-26 regular season with Houston, Durant appeared in 78 games and averaged 26 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 52% from the field in 36.4 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

Acquiring Durant would come at steep price<\/p>\n

However, acquiring the two-time NBA Finals MVP would likely prove challenging.<\/p>\n

Any trade package for Durant would almost certainly require Detroit to part with multiple rotation players or draft assets, or to involve a third team to satisfy salary cap requirements. <\/p>\n

At 37, Durant also presents a short-term investment, as he will turn 38 before the start of next season.<\/p>\n
