From Opening Day on March 27 through the end of play on May 21, Yelich appeared in 48 games and hit .184/.276/.324 with seven home runs. In nine games since then, Yelich is hitting .472/.525/.917 with five homers, including a walk-off, extra-inning grand slam on Tuesday.

The sudden turnaround has seen Yelich look like a completely different player. Seemingly unable to hit lefties all season, he did significant damage against left-handed pitching in the last week. A groundball and strikeout machine, Yelich is suddenly elevating the ball with regularity, and he struck out only 20% of the time after posting a 28% strikeout rate prior to the 21st. He’s taking the ball to the opposite field with authority. His batting average is up 41 points, and his OPS is up 140 points in less than two weeks.

It has been a heartening run for Yelich, who returns to the lineup tonight after having to leave Sunday’s game early after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch. Not surprisingly, Yelich’s streak has coincided with a turnaround in his team’s fortune: the Brewers are 8-2 since May 21 and are currently riding a seven-game winning streak.

This is the sixth time that Yelich has won a Player of the Week award, but the first since April 2019.

Christian Yelich has won the NL’s Player of the Week honor, per MLB: Junior Caminero: 11-for-29 (.379 AVG),…

[2401
2229,5,3219,136,1277,3220,181,343,843,59,4516,4514,4280,4,7845,306,214,3181,173,749,1278
0":"post-74848","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-milwaukee-brewers","8":"tag-ball","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-brew","11":"tag-brewers","12":"tag-christian","13":"tag-crew","14":"tag-front-page","15":"tag-league","16":"tag-milwaukee","17":"tag-milwaukee-brewers","18":"tag-milwaukee-brewers-commentary-analysis","19":"tag-milwaukee-brewers-news","20":"tag-milwaukeebrewers","21":"tag-mlb","22":"tag-named","23":"tag-national","24":"tag-of","25":"tag-player","26":"tag-the","27":"tag-week","28":"tag-yelich
["GET
