Mike Gambino has sent another player to the big leagues.<\/p>\n

Penn State pitcher and designated hitter Michael Anderson was selected by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2026 MLB Draft.<\/p>\n

While Anderson only played at Penn State for one season, he led the Nittany Lions at the plate all year. Anderson previously played for Rhode Island and Arkansas before throwing on blue and white threads \u2014 totaling 103 career games and 99 starts as an infielder at those schools.<\/p>\n

Throughout his season at Penn State, Anderson totaled 53 RBI\u2019s, 68 hits, and 11 doubles in 50 total games. He also made two appearances on the mound before injuring his arm, throwing 1.2 innings and striking out a batter.<\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s offensive efforts this season earned him first-team All-Big Ten honors, ranking him second for home runs in the Big Ten Conference, with 20 total.<\/p>\n

The Havertown, Pennsylvania, native will join former Penn State center fielder Paxton Kling in the Rangers’ system.<\/p>\n

Anderson continuously dominates as a right-handed hitter, excelling at consistent hit production. He was selected as a two-way player, giving him the opportunity to hit and pitch in the minor leagues.<\/p>\n
