Boras added no potential trades have been discussed to this point, either.

Asked Scott Boras, agent for Matt Chapman, who has no-trade contract with Giants, the chances of him being traded: “I would say that it’s not something on the radar.” Hasn’t been discussed, either, he said.

— John Shea (@JohnSheaHey) July 13, 2026

Even if the Giants fielded an offer for Chapman worth considering, the 33-year-old has a full no-trade clause in his contract that would need to be waived for a deal to happen. Chapman currently is in the second season of a six-year, $151 million contract signed in September 2024, meaning any interested team likely would have to pay the bulk of the over $100 million still remaining on the deal.

The 10-year veteran currently is on the 10-day IL with an abdominal strain, though he is expected to return soon — if not right after the All-Star break.

Chapman has struggled at the plate in 2026, as his .692 OPS through 84 games would be a career low for a full season. The emergence of versatile utility man Casey Schmitt, who is having a career year with the bat, could be another reason for San Francisco to part ways with Chapman.

On the other hand, Chapman’s defense has remained among the best in the majors, which prevents his value from sinking too low. Entering the All-Star break, he leads all MLB third basemen in both fielding run value and defensive runs saved this year.

Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey already has stated the team wouldn’t entertain any offers for ace Logan Webb, seemingly striking off another potential trade candidate on the roster.

Second baseman Luis Arraez is another player with plenty of trade buzz, particularly because he is on a one-year deal with San Francisco and has improved his defense significantly this season. However, Arraez also has expressed willingness to sign an extension to remain in the Bay long-term.

Two other Giants players are ranked highly on ESPN’s trade deadline candidates list: outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and starter Robbie Ray. Like Arraez, Ray only is under contract for the remainder of the 2026 season, which should increase his likelihood of being traded.

Download and follow the Giants Talk Podcast

Though the Giants widely are expected to be sellers before the Aug. 6 MLB trade deadline, it appears…

[2408
5,162,379,4,3449,378,66,4343,4340,4344,4341,4342
post-751246","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-francisco-giants","tag-baseball","tag-giants","tag-matt-chapman","tag-mlb","tag-mlb-trade-deadline","tag-san-francisco","tag-san-francisco-giants","tag-sanfrancisco","tag-sanfranciscogiants","tag-sf","tag-sf-giants","tag-sfgiants
["GET
