Detroit, who designated Jones for assignment last week, will receive a player to be named later in return. Boston has had an open 40-man spot since left-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/couloda01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-07-14_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Danny Coulombe<\/a> was designated for assignment a couple of days ago, so Jones can fill that vacancy.
