BEMIDJI \u2014 A Bemidji Youth Baseball field was vandalized last week with trash and a small fire set on part of the field, according to a Facebook post from Bemidji Youth Baseball. <\/p>\n
Vandals set fire to a part of the artificial turf next to the pitcher’s mound, BYB told the Pioneer via Facebook. They also said that garbage cans were dumped onto the field and that smoke bombs were thrown into the outfield. The field is located near Timber Ridge Apartments on the western part of the Mark Evensen Memorial Fields complex. <\/p>\n

shared via a Facebook post on July 16.<\/a><\/p>\n “It is so sad to us that we have people that want to trash the hard work others put in,” Bemidji Youth Baseball said via direct message.<\/p>\n BYB didn’t offer any details on the possible vandals, but they’re asking the community to report any further suspicious activity. <\/p>\n “These fields are built and maintained by countless hours of volunteer work, generous sponsors and community support, and it’s heartbreaking to see them damaged,” BYB said in a Facebook post. “We’re asking our community to help protect this space for our kids. If you’re in the area, please keep an eye on the fields and report any suspicious activity.
