I had [Troy Snitker], their hitting coach, when I was in Houston. A few familiar faces over there,\u201d Tucker said when asked about the Mets\u2019 pursuit in the winter. \u201cI think they have some really good players. Hasn\u2019t necessarily worked out how they had hoped or wanted to have the season go, but it kind of happens sometimes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always a tough decision, trying to figure out where to go. I just felt comfortable coming out to LA. Robert Sabo for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>Posturing or an indication the Mets are planning to keep their catchers?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In his press conference Friday, president of baseball operations David Stearns was asked about Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens being involved in potential trades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout commenting on any specific player or approach to any specific player, catching is really important,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re very fortunate to have two really good ones.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Post\u2019s Jon Heyman has reported that the Mets are <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/09\/sports\/mets-most-tradable-assets-dont-have-much-return-value\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">willing to move the 24-year-old Alvarez<\/a> for the right price. Alvarez and Torrens are under team control beyond this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of his Hall of Fame induction this weekend, Carlos Beltr\u00e1n revealed that Mets officials talked to him about managing the team after firing Carlos Mendoza, but he declined the opportunity.
