With the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline less than two weeks away, front offices across the league are beginning to decide whether they will add talent for a postseason push or begin planning for the future.

While several clubs have already signaled they are likely to sell, many others remain on the fence as the playoff races tighten. A strong week could convince a team to buy, while a losing streak could send valuable veterans to contenders before the Aug. 3 deadline.

Among the most intriguing situations is Washington, where the Nationals remain within striking distance of a National League Wild Card berth. Shortstop CJ Abrams is putting together another All Star caliber season with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs through 95 games, while right hander Foster Griffin has emerged as one of the league’s top starters with a 10-2 record and a 2.77 ERA. Washington must decide whether to chase a playoff spot or capitalize on the value of two players drawing significant interest.

San Francisco is another club expected to listen to offers. Four time All Star Luis Arraez has returned to form both at the plate and in the field, batting .327 while enjoying one of the strongest defensive seasons of his career at second base. Outfielder Jung Hoo Lee could also become a name to watch as the Giants evaluate ways to reshape their roster and payroll.

The Angels appear headed toward another rebuilding deadline. Left handers Reid Detmers and José Soriano remain under club control beyond this season, making both pitchers attractive targets for teams searching for starting pitching. Their years of control could allow Los Angeles to command sizable returns if the organization chooses to move them.

Colorado’s Hunter Goodman is generating attention despite being viewed as a long term building block. The All Star catcher has continued his breakout season with 28 home runs, making him one of the most productive offensive catchers in baseball. While the Rockies are unlikely to move him, rival clubs are expected to make inquiries. Veteran reliever Antonio Senzatela is considered a far more realistic trade candidate after successfully transitioning to the bullpen.

Detroit’s recent turnaround has created one of the deadline’s biggest storylines. The Tigers looked destined to sell earlier this summer, but a strong stretch has pulled them back into the American League Wild Card race. That resurgence could keep reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal in Detroit rather than on the trade market. Fellow starter Casey Mize, who is also enjoying the best season of his career, could likewise remain if the Tigers continue winning.

The Mets have already indicated they are willing to move veterans as they begin looking toward the future. Right hander Freddy Peralta headlines that group, although an inconsistent season may impact his trade value despite his experience and ability to miss bats.

Baltimore also faces an important decision over the next two weeks. The Orioles have climbed back into the Wild Card race after a recent winning streak, but they remain below .500. Outfielder Taylor Ward, who is eligible for free agency after the season, could become a valuable trade chip if Baltimore decides to sell.

As the deadline approaches, every series carries additional significance. Teams still hovering around the playoff picture will likely let their performance over the next two weeks determine whether they become buyers, sellers or stand pat before Aug. 3.

With the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline less than two weeks away, front offices across the league are…

[2288
143,5,2313,53,19,2310,2328,2304,2318,2308,2319,4,2305,2303,30099,9379
post-761700","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mlb-postseason","tag-baltimore","tag-baseball","tag-baseball-playoffs-and-champions","tag-detroit-tigers","tag-major-league-baseball","tag-major-league-baseball-competitions","tag-major-league-baseball-playoffs","tag-major-league-baseball-postseason","tag-major-league-baseball-seasons","tag-major-league-baseball-teams","tag-major-league-baseball-teams-seasons","tag-mlb","tag-mlb-playoffs","tag-mlb-postseason","tag-trade-sports","tag-washington-commanders
["GET
