{"id":763015,"date":"2026-07-27T18:48:23","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T18:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/763015\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T18:48:23","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T18:48:23","slug":"dodgers-insider-predicts-starting-pitchers-departure-at-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/763015\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodgers Insider Predicts Starting Pitcher&#8217;s Departure at Deadline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MLB trade deadline is a week away, and a Los Angeles Dodgers insider thinks the Boys in Blue will continue a recent trend and part ways with a starting pitcher in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7471440\/2026\/07\/27\/mlb-trade-deadline-prediction-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic<\/a> said \u201cfor the fourth deadline in a row,\u201d he predicts the Dodgers will \u201cwind up trading another starting pitcher off their big-league roster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/USATSI_24580834_168396005_lowres.jpg\" alt=\"Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images\" class=\"wp-image-280347\"  \/>Oct 25, 2024; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman speaks in a press conference before game one against the New York Yankees in the 2024 MLB World Series at Dodger Stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was Noah Syndergaard in 2023, James Paxton in 2024 and Dustin May in 2025,\u201d he said. \u201cEric Lauer could make some sense \u2014 so long as the Dodgers are still optimistic their rotation could get back to full strength eventually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starting pitching remains a question<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Ardaya hinted, there remains quite a bit that\u2019s unknown about the Dodgers\u2019 starting pitching this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the presumed four playoff starters \u2014\u00a0Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell \u2014\u00a0three of them have missed starts due to injury this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ohtani\u2019s left knee hasn\u2019t prevented him from hitting, but it has caused him to miss the past couple of starts, and manager <a href=\"https:\/\/dodgersnation.com\/dave-roberts-reveals-which-version-of-shohei-ohtani-dodgers-value-more\/2026\/07\/23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Dave Roberts has made clear they value him more as a hitter than a pitcher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Snell is <a href=\"https:\/\/dodgersnation.com\/dodgers-get-positive-blake-snell-rehab-update-as-return-nears\/2026\/07\/25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">close to making his big-league return<\/a>, but Glasnow\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dodgersnation.com\/tyler-glasnow-takes-biggest-step-yet-toward-dodgers-return\/2026\/07\/24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">road to recovery has been much more uneven<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hot trade would obviously be <a href=\"https:\/\/dodgersnation.com\/dodgers-world-series-champion-weighs-in-on-tarik-skubal-speculation\/2026\/07\/23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">trading for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal<\/a>, but the Tigers may not want to part with him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the Dodgers still have Justin Wrobleski, himself an All-Star who\u2019s performed admirably as a starting pitcher with an 11-2 record and 2.62 ERA this season.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785178102_20_Eric-Lauer-2.jpg\" alt=\"Jul 22, 2026; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Eric Lauer (33) throws a pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies during the first inning at Citizens Bank Park.
