Piketon\u2019s Kendon Day has decided to pursue his college baseball dreams while majoring in business at the University of Rio Grande.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful for the opportunity to continue my baseball career at the next level,\u201d Day said. \u201cI want to say thank you to my family, coaches and teammates who have supported me every step of the way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Day was a varsity letter winner in three of his four seasons with the Redstreaks and was one of the team\u2019s primary pitchers. He also logged time in the infield when he wasn\u2019t pitching. Day was Honorable Mention All-Scioto Valley Conference and was Second Team in Division V in the Southeast Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association\u2019s all-district honorees.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy for Kendon and the opportunity he has earned,\u201d Piketon coach Jonathan Teeters said. \u201cHe is a hard worker who always has a great attitude. We wish him the best at the University of Rio Grande.\u201d<\/p>\n
Day will be coached by Brad Warnimont at the University of Rio Grande.<\/p>\n
Warnimont just finished his 23rd season as the winningest head coach at the University of Rio Grande. In his previous 22 seasons, the RedStorm have averaged 30 wins annually while consistently playing a competitive schedule. Warnimont was just recently elected into the Redstorm Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
The University of Rio Grande is an NAIA school that competes in the River States Conference. The school is located at 218 N.
