Sunday\u2019s win also assured KWL of a Class B state tournament berth.<\/p>\n<p>Trent Wookey had three hits and scored three times, Jaxon Christensen had two RBIs and Caleb Crist scored twice for the Nationals. Joseph Cole\u2019s RBI sacrifice fly proved decisive in walk-off fashion for Colome to advance, plus threw all 10 innings on 125 pitches and allowed five hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out 14 batters. Ethan Vobr had a triple and scored twice and Carter Dye and Shea Connot each had two hits for Colome. A ninth-inning error for Colome allowed Chamberlain\u2019s Rory McManus to score and tie the game at 2-all, forcing extra innings. For the Mallards, Braydon Kreofsky and Sandler Wiekamp both had two hits. Kreofsky threw eight innings and allowed one earned run with six strikeouts. Tim Travis was charged with the loss after throwing the ninth and 10th innings on the mound for Chamberlain. Colome will face the Winner Demons on Tuesday with the chance to advance to the state bracket.<\/p>\n<p>Wessington Springs 10, Plankinton 9 in Chamberlain: The Owls earned a walk-off win Sunday afternoon, eliminating the Bankers in the district playoffs when Cade Mohling singled to center field to score Jonathan Peterson with the bases loaded. Layne Cotton had four hits and drove in five runs and Brock Krueger had three RBIs, while Luke Larson also had three hits for Springs. Blake Larson was the winning pitcher in relief, recording the final four outs on the Bankers. Keagan Hill had a home run, three hits and two RBIs for the Bankers, and took the loss in relief, allowing two hits and two runs in two innings in relief of starter Thomas Stange. The Owls will play Burke for a state tournament berth at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Chamberlain, with the loser going to the last-chance game on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>District 5B<\/p>\n<p>Parkston Rays 7, Dimock\/Emery 4 in Platte: The Rays built a 7-0 lead to set the stage and advance in the first round of the district tournament on Sunday night. Jake Helleloid threw eight innings and allowed five hits, two unearned runs and struck out nine batters, and Carter Sommer threw the ninth inning for the Rays. Ty Neugebauer and Landon Sudbeck both had two RBIs for Parkston. Drew Kitchens had two of D\/E\u2019s five hits and Phil Johnson drove in a pair of runs. Dane Toman took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits and seven runs in four innings, with eight walks and seven strikeouts. The Rays will play the Mudcats at 8 p.m. Monday in the semifinals, with the winner securing a state tournament trip. D\/E will play Mount Vernon in an elimination game at 8 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Parkston Mudcats 10, Mount Vernon 8 in Platte: Parkston rallied after Saturday\u2019s rain stoppage to get past the Mustangs on Sunday in the first round of the district tournament. Mount Vernon led 5-3 in the bottom of the third when the game was halted but Parkston scored five runs in a row after the resumption and later broke an 8-all tie with a Spencer Frudenthal two-RBI single in the eighth. The Mudcats finished with a 13-12 edge in hits and committed seven of the game\u2019s 12 errors. Luke Bormann had four hits for the Mudcats and Gunnar Wilhelm had three RBIs, including a home run. Mason Herman threw the final six innings and picked up the win, allowing seven hits, three runs and striking out five, replacing Max Scott after the delay. Mount Vernon\u2019s Deric Denning replaced Bradley Dean after the delay and Denning took the loss, allowing 10 hits, three earned runs and striking out six in six innings. Parker Mandel had four hits and three runs scored, with Denning, Daniel Laufman, Chase Hetland and Spencer Neugebauer each tallying two hits apiece. The Mudcats will face the Parkston Rays at 7 p.m. Monday in the semifinals in Platte. Mount Vernon will face Dimock\/Emery in an elimination game at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Platte.<\/p>\n<p>Schedule update: Monday at the District 5B tournament will include the semifinal round, starting with Alexandria and Platte in the first game at 6 p.m., followed by the all-Parkston semifinal in the nightcap.<\/p>\n<p>District 4B<\/p>\n<p>Hartford\/Humboldt Wood Ducks 12, Flandreau Blue Teal 4 in Humboldt: The district tournament host Wood Ducks eliminated the Blue Teal on Sunday. The Ducks had 11 hits and 11 walks, including two hits apiece from Karson Vessells, Curtis Flint and Brodie Herr, while Flint pitched six innings and struck out 11 Flandreau batters and yielded three hits. Kolby Peters had three hits for the Blue Teal. The Wood Ducks face the Flandreau Cardinals at 6 p.m. Thursday for a trip to the state tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Hartford\/Humboldt Gamecocks 12, Baltic 2 (7 inn.) in Humboldt: J.D. Kirchner struck out 10 River Dawgs batters to win an elimination game on Sunday. He allowed four hits and two runs in six innings, while Kyle Konechne hit a home run and Joe Hanisch, Blake Svoboda and Jonah Rechtenbaugh all had two hits. The Gamecocks will play Salem with a state tournament berth on the line at 8 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Schedule update: The district tournament is back on schedule Tuesday with the semifinal round, with Dell Rapids PBR and Canova playing at 6 p.m., followed by Madison and the Dell Rapids Mudcats at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>District 6B\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lesterville 8, Freeman 5 at Menno: Fourth-seeded Lesterville scored the first six runs of the game and held off a late charge from the Blacksox in the first-round game postponed from Thursday. The Broncs had three hits each from Derek Quame and Michael Drotzmann and three RBIs from Quame, while Alex Wagner picked up the five-out save in relief of starter Dawson Bietz, who had seven strikeouts in 5 1\/3 innings for Lesterville. Tyce Ortman drove in two runs and Riley Tschetter had two RBIs for Freeman, while Tannen Auch took the loss, allowing five hits and three earned runs in four innings. Lesterville will play No. 1 Tabor in a semifinal game on Tuesday. Freeman faces Irene at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Menno in a District 6B elimination game.
