In a tightly contested 10-inning game on Monday, the New York Mets edged out the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 at Dodger Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers managed to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth but faltered in the extra frame.<\/p>\n

Closer Tanner Scott, who took the mound in the 10th, struggled with his command, allowing the decisive run by Starling Marte that ultimately sealed the win for New York.<\/p>\n

Postgame, Scott candidly acknowledged<\/a> his performance issues, stating, “Missed locations, especially down in the zone against hitters that I\u2019m supposed to be in different spots…I\u2019m just not hitting my locations, and it\u2019s costing us.”<\/p>\n

Scott, a 30-year-old left-handed reliever from Warren, Ohio, began his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 before playing for the Miami Marlins (2022-2024) and San Diego Padres (2024).<\/p>\n

In 2024, Scott was named an All-Star, posting a 2.73 ERA<\/a>, 31 strikeouts, four saves and a 3-1 record, highlighting his status as one of the league’s premier relievers<\/p>\n

That same year, the Dodgers finished with a 98-64 record (best in Major League Baseball), secured home-field advantage through the playoffs and ultimately won their eighth World Series title, defeating the New York Yankees in five games.<\/p>\n

Last season with the Padres, Scott pitched scoreless innings across five playoff games, striking out seven batters, including four against NL MVP Shohei Ohtani in the Division Series.<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday, the Dodgers hold a 36-24 record, leading the National League West division.<\/p>\n

However, with L.A. aiming to defend their World Series title, they will need Scott to regain his form to maintain their edge in tight games.<\/p>\n
