The Westside Little League 9-, 10- and 11-year-old All-Star baseball team was celebrated at a pizza party at Straw Hat Pizza Thursday evening that was put on by city officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The team defeated Thousand Oaks and Foothill Little League teams to advance to the state tournament in San Diego.<\/p>\n
There at Mira Mesa Park the team lost 4-1 to Palos Verdes and then 6-4 to Santa Margarita in extra innings.<\/p>\n
Despite the losses, coach Brian Rodriguez said he was proud of his team.<\/p>\n
“We haven’t gone that far since 1998,” Rodriguez said. “It was a big achievement for them.”<\/p>\n
