On Friday, the San Francisco Giants<\/a> opened up a series with the Detroit Tigers<\/a> at Oracle Park in California.<\/p>\n

The Giants<\/a> won by a score of 5-2.<\/p>\n

Ahead of their series with the Tigers, the Giants<\/a> announced the latest update on Marcelo Mayer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has been out since June 25 with an injury.<\/p>\n

MLB.com wrote<\/a> (on August 7): \u201cWill participate in full baseball activity this weekend and could begin a rehab assignment next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayer was the 4th pick in the 2021 MLB<\/a> Draft.<\/p>\n

He has spent part of two seasons at the MLB level (all with the Red Sox).<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old is currently batting .220 with 45 hits, three home runs, 22 RBIs, 19 runs and three stolen bases in 70 games this year.<\/p>\n
