The New York native had nearly as many walks (22) as strikeouts (27) in 161 plate appearances. He made a lot of groundball contact while producing pedestrian exit velocities in college, but he immediately incorporated some changes after signing and drove the ball in the air more frequently. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBoston\u2019s demonstrated ability to help players improve their strength, bat speed and ball flight could help Godbout produce at least 15 homers on an annual basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebiglead.com\/umpire-ejects-starting-pitcher-before-braves-yankees-game-begins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Umpire ejects starting pitcher before Braves-Yankees game begins<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Godbout\u2019s ability to combine patience and a high contact rate at the low levels of the minor leagues obviously encouraged the Red Sox to move Godbout up before the end of the season. He\u2019s still only the second-ranked shortstop in Boston\u2019s system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Triple-A shortstop Franklin Arias is the consensus top prospect in the organization.
